Seven Hills Yoga Studies was founded by Suzanne Harrell and Addie Post in 2024. With the support of Journeys in Yoga's new owner, Michelle, Addie and Suzanne wanted to continue the long tradition of a teacher training program hosted at Journeys. We are honored to follow in the footsteps of Many Rivers Yoga Teacher Training program and offer access to high quality instruction in the physical, historical and philosophical aspects of Yoga to people interested in learning how to teach Yoga or just wanting to deepen their own understanding of this ancient practice. Seven Hills Yoga Studies is a registered school with the Yoga Alliance- RYS #34086.
Our name is a nod to the seven hills of our hometown Tallahassee Florida and the location of our teacher training program. Our program is founded on seven principles that guide us in our teaching and in our lives. Living by these principles is a practice in and of itself. We strive to share the benefits and challenges in our own personal journey as both teachers and human beings making our way on the planet. These principles are intertwined with the Yamas and Niyamas in the Yoga Sutras.
They are:
Focus- choosing carefully how we spend our energy and what energy we put out in the world.
Authenticity- being our genuine selves on and off the mat and helping others do the same.
Abundance- living and teaching from a belief that we will have all that we need.
Inclusion- recognizing and embracing differences while making space for all voices.
Introspection- a commitment to self-study and personal growth.
Transparency- being open, clear and candid about who we are as a business, as teachers and as human beings.
Harmony- living in peace and in balance with everything around us.
Your main teachers are Addie Post and Suzanne Harrell. We will also have several guest teachers throughout the training, each who bring their special skills and perspectives to the table.

Suzanne Shellabarger Harrell
Suzanne has been practicing Yoga since 1995. She got her start practicing Bikram Yoga and soon after discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. From there she has explored many styles of Yoga over the years and finds something amazing about each one of them. As her passion for yoga grew, her desire to share it with others grew as well. Suzanne started teaching Yoga in 2003. In 2007 she opened Journeys In Yoga studio in Tallahassee Florida. She ran the studio for 15 years before selling it to semi retire to teaching Yoga and training other Yoga teachers. Suzanne has been training Yoga teachers since 2007- first as an assistant to her own teachers Sara and Vaz in the Radiant Transitions Yoga Teacher Training program, then in her own program, Many Rivers Yoga Teacher Training, along with her friend Stacey Abbott- until 2021. After a brief sabbatical, she is so excited to be training Yoga teachers again! Suzanne is registered with the Yoga Alliance- a professional organization for Yoga teachers- as an “E-RYT500” which means that she is a “teacher of teachers”. Suzanne is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, spending the first half of her professional life working in the community mental health system in Virginia and Florida.

Raised in Tallahassee, Addie has been practicing yoga since 2012 and began teaching in 2015. With a background of dance and gymnastics, learning to share the love for movement, healing, and enthusiasm for mind-body connection, the practice of yoga has been a major gift. Following her 200hr program with Many Rivers YTT in 2016, she began taking continuing education workshops learning about Ayurveda, Chair Yoga, Ashtanga and more. In 2022 she went to Spain for a 300hr teacher training immersion with Lakshmi Rising YTT and upon graduation lived in Costa Rica at a retreat center assisting with trainings and retreats. She currently lives and teaches in the Tallahassee area at Journeys in Yoga as well as other community classes.

The majority of the training will take place in person at Journeys In Yoga, located at 111 South Magnolia Drive in Tallahassee. Four Wednesdays per month we will meet via Zoom at the location of your choice.
Our training is in the historical lineage of Hatha Yoga (Yoga of the body). You will learn how to teach modern postural Yoga (poses- asana) to groups and individuals with a range of experience levels and in a variety of settings. The tag line of our training is “In the Flow”. Our main focus is on flow style Yoga (also called Vinyasa style), where poses flow from one to the other with the breath. We will cover how to build flows that make sense anatomically (sequencing), proper pose alignment, modifications and contraindications. We will also discuss Hot Yoga, as well as the “mother" of flow Yoga: “Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga” and experience its opposite: the deep tissue stretching of Yin Yoga.
We will explore where the philosophical and spiritual practice of Yoga comes from, the important texts, culture and historical figures associated with the ancient practices. We will also cover the context from which modern postural Yoga arose and how it became what we see today. We will look at the wide range of lineages that have developed over the decades, and what their similarities and differences are. We will do a deep dive into the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and use the 8 limbed path as a guide to apply in our own lives.
There will be discussion of anatomy and physiology with the information learned there applied in posture clinics as we strive to understand the mechanics of each pose and how to help students safely experience them.
Our program will guide you in understanding and experiencing mediation, Yoga Nidra, and breath work (pranayama) alongside the physical practice; our small class size lending itself to one on one attention and mentoring as you find your authentic path and voice as a Yoga teacher. The training will also cover the business of Yoga, ethical conduct as a Yoga teacher and understanding your personal scope of practice.
Our goal is to create an intensive like feel to the program while still allowing for working people to attend. The weekends are close together, with a weekday “bridge” between sessions, so that there is strong consistency to the learning process. All students will start and end together (no rolling enrollment) in order to create a container of relationship building, support and knowledge sharing among the group.
Our training will run for 4 months- May through August 2026 (see dates below). There are two in person weekends per month that will take place on Friday evening from 6-8 pm, and from 9am to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. We will also have one Wednesday evening per week via zoom for two hours of group meditation, asana practice or discussion. There will be at home study of anatomy and physiology, as well as assigned readings on Yoga philosophy and sequencing. All students will have to attend three asana classes and observe three asana classes and write up their experiences. These can be online or in person classes.
There are no make-up weekends- attendance is expected at every session and only under special circumstances will a make-up project be assigned.
We will take no more than 16 people into the program, and the program must have a minimum of 10 people in order to “go”. If the minimum is not met by April 1, 2026, all monies paid will be refunded.
